Board Dating offers a more in-depth alternative to traditional Speed Dating. Instead of brief one-on-one interactions, participants are grouped together to play board games. This allows for extended conversations and a better opportunity to assess compatibility with potential matches.
+ How long is each session? How many games do we play?
Our events run for 2.5 hours and are broken down into 20 minute sessions with a short break after each. The first session is a group co-operative game where everyone gets to find out a little about each other. After this we organise people into initial groups of 4 to play their first board game. Once complete everyone is shuffled onto a different game with different people.
+ What board games will we be playing?
We choose a selection of board games designed to play well with four people in the available twenty minute time slot. Games could include titles such as HeckMeck, Kingdomino, and Trio.
+ I've never heard of those games! How do I play them?
Each game has a quick setup sheet and rulecard for each player. We believe setting up and learning to play in small groups is a great way to get to know those folks you're playing with. Do not worry though as we have several crew members on hand to explain any rules questions you may have.
+ How many potential matches will be there on the night?
As stated in our Terms and Conditions we guarantee a minimum of six potential matches for each attendee, however, some of our events could feature more.
+ Do I need to buy a ticket or can I pay at the event?
To avoid overbooking and ensure a balanced and enjoyable Board Dating event, we need to maintain an equal number of potential matches.
+ When will I know if I get any matches?
Within 24 hours of attending an event, we will notify you via email of how many matches you made. If you don't receive an email, please check your spam or junk folders.
+ How do matches work?
If you and any other people chosen have each other on the match card then the email we send out will have their contact details on it, this might be email or SMS depending on their contact preferences.
+ How strict are the age ranges?
While the age range for our events is fixed, we understand that exceptions can be made. If you're close to the age range and feel like you'd be a good fit for our events, please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss your participation. We'll be happy to assess your suitability and provide guidance.
